Confidence interval

Confidence interval for a parameter θ, with confidence level γ is an interval [l(D),u(D)], such that

Pr(l(D)≤θ≤u(D))=γ

under the statistical model used to describe data.

(The probability of θ being between the two boundaries is equal to our Confidence level γ, usually 95%.)
