Collection of things that were specifically mentioned to be on the exam:
- Evo-Devo vocabulary - Isometric and Allometric Growth
- Salmon Life History Exam question
- Life History Evolution - Reproductive output in nematode parasites
Exam note from Fred:
There are about 10-15 questions. Most are multiple choice. Some require writing a small amount of text to explain things. Questions are randomized among students. The questions are on the lectures of the main topics, excluding the genomic analysis parts.
Also, he said the exam will not be math/equation focused or at least he said "You don't need to do so much math."
Things I wish I studied for the exam
- For one question I had to list all the hypotheses for the evolution of cooperation: Cooperation#How does cooperation evolve? and give an example of each.
- I had a question related to Evolutionary Stable Strategy in the context of life history adaptations that was a bit confusing
- I didn't get any math questions, but one question involved the expected rate of change in heterozygosity (Population Genetics - Genetic Drift#Heterozygosity changes)
- There was a confusing question about the Four-Question Framework related to Behavioural Evolution (study those slides)
- Another confusing question was about Behavioural Evolution#Costs and benefits and the evolutionary stable strategy which I didn't study for
- Heads up, some of the questions are "select all correct answers" and they are worth a certain number of points (e.g. 2 points). I don't think this means there are always two correct answers.
